5 Reasons Why I Am Doing a Prayer Board in 2024 and the First Step I Am Taking to Prepare for It

As we approach the new year, I have made the decision to create a prayer board instead of a vision board and I wanted to share why I think you should too!
How many times have you made a vision board and only achieved 25% of the things you set out to do. Every year we pull magazines and images from the internet and start setting goals, hoping that as we try to establish new habits, we can reach those goals. Who's with me? I am so over, making a vision board and nothing on it coming to pass. So I did some reflection and realized what was missing. GOD! Sure, you pray that God would help you achieve the goals on your vision board, but did you commit that goal to the Lord?
A prayer board is a visual representation of our prayers and goals, serving as a constant reminder to seek guidance and direction from God, express gratitude, and find solace in the power of prayer. In this blog post, I will share five reasons why I am embarking on this journey to hopefully convince you to join me. And a bonus will be about the first step I am taking to prepare for it.
1. Building the Habit of Seeking God
One of the main reasons I am creating a prayer board is to focus on seeking God and putting Him first in my decision making. If only you knew, how many times I made a decision without consulting God first and if flopped. How embarrassing?! So, by visually displaying the prayers for our goals along with supporting scriptures, it will be a tangible reminder to dedicate time to continue to seek God for direction and wisdom. This practice will help develop a consistent prayer routine and strengthen our relationship with God.
2. Growing in Faith
In Matthew 17:20-21, the Bible says, "for truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." How amazing is it that our faith in the power of God can do that? All the goals on your prayer board are going to require you to have faith. What are you believing God for for the new year? That is what goes on your prayer board.
3. Setting Goals with God
The purpose of the prayer board is to strategically set goals based on guidance and direction from God. By committing our goals to God, we can ensure that we are in alignment with God's plans and purpose for our lives. This process enables us to stay focused and intentional with goal setting and then taking the necessary steps to achieve them.
4. Track Spiritual Growth
Life can be filled with uncertainties and challenges and how we recover from them are detrimental to how we move forward. By having a prayer board we have a physical space to surrender our worries and fears to God and watch God work on our behalf. As we watch God move and answer our prayers, our faith grows and as well as our confidence in who God is. We get to watch over time how we develop spiritually in our walk with God.
5. Building a Supportive Community
Lastly, by sharing my prayer board journey with you, I hope to build a supportive community of like-minded Christian women who are also seeking spiritual growth. Together, we can encourage and uplift one another, sharing our experiences, insights, and prayers. This sense of community will provide a nurturing environment for personal and collective spiritual development. The First Step: Fasting & Prayer
The first step I am taking to prepare for my prayer board in 2024 is gathering the necessary materials and most importantly, I'm going to be going on a fast from January 2-6th. If you'd like to join me on the fast, I have created a guide that you can download. The guide contains fasting tips and a 5 day calendar with prayer prompts, scriptures to study and worship songs to meditate on. In addition, I will be sending a prayer via email daily to those who sign up on the email list specifically for this fast. You can join the email list here.
As far as materials, there is a separate blog post for that. You can check it out here.
